Welcome to the Ganga Hostel's Official Website.

To us Gangasters, Ganga is just more than a hostel. It is in fact a home away from home and an identity in itself. Gangasters, apart from being known for their famous Schroeter wins and excellent Sportsmanship, have excelled in every other field of activities. We take in fierce pride about this and great efforts are made year after year to maintain this coveted status and this culture of winning is imbibed into every batch coming in.
Apart from winning the Schroeter for the fifth year in succession, there has also been a tremendous improvement in Lit-Soc and Tech-Soc performances in the present year. Contributions have come in from every possible direction and the Gangasters have shown great enthusiasm in achieving this. Every hostelite is eager to contribute in some way or the other and thus, the baton of success is carried forward. All this, combined with the corridor "fart" sessions, hurried fundae sessions on the eve of the exam and the excellent hostel life in general creates a lifelong bond and infinite memories to cherish
– That's what life in Ganga is all about!!

What is the first thing that crosses anyone's mind when they think of Ganga!?? Yes, you're right!! Schroeter, of course! (Schroeter, being the trophy awarded to the hostel with the most points in sports.) Famed for its infinite Schroeter wins, Ganga is rightly called the most sports-enthusiastic hostel.

Every year, led by an efficient Sports-Sec and dedicated Sports captains, Ganga has always managed to excel in the sports activities and thus maintain one of the best ever Schroeter records. The atmosphere during Schroeter matches is electrifying with supporters cheering themselves hoarse.

Deans trophy: Given to the hostel with the highest points in the events which are informal or do not qualify as sports these include bridge, chess, carom, 6 A side cricket, triathlon cycle race and the like. While not contested with the fervour of Schroeter it still is a very important part of the Sports calendar.

For the hostelites, it is a matter of great pride, for it is a prize that highlights the sheer hard work and dedicated team work. All this has given rise to the most famous slogan in the insti,


"Who will win the Schroeter?? Ganga! Ganga!"

As the alumni take a break from their hectic schedule, the memories of their life spent in Ganga would make their eyes moist with nostalgia and impel their reverie.

The walk done the memory lane would bring back unforgettable moments- time spent with friends, endless night-outs and fundae sessions before exams and enthusiastic participation in hostel activities.

Freshies constitute an important part of any hostel and Ganga takes great pride in ensuring that year after year, the freshies are imbibed with the hostel spirit of winning coupled with fun and learning, with the help of fundae sessions conducted by the secretaries of the hostel. Usually occupying the 7th and 8th wings of the hostel, the freshies are usually nurtured and the hostel spirit inculcated in them, mainly during the interaction sessions with the seniors.
