We, the residents of Godavari, have solemnly resolved to constitute Godav into an awesome and kickass hostel and to secure to all its citizens, the status of Gods on campus.

Oft-repeated, oft-quoted, but true. The name itself suggests the nature of the residents of the hostel. And besides, with arguably the best quadrangle amongst all hostels, a strong overall performance in LitSoc, TechSoc and Schroeter, and the better (or rather louder) spirit at the annual 15th August parade at midnight in the volley court with Saras, there is very little one can argue against that fact. Newcomers are heartily welcomed into the system and guided by the able seniors into the various fields that they might be interested in. After all, we dont believe that life begins and ends at academics. We believe in all round development of character, and participation in all events, which would explain, among other things, the frenzied shouting which can be heard from the quadrangle every evening. This explains the fierce sense of competition that we have in ourselves, which is consistently passed down through the successive batches. It is one of the largest and oldest hostels on campus, making it the former abode of illustrious people who have made it big in the world outside. It is also the only B.Tech hostel with a lawn facing the front gate, which often beholds the amazing spectacle of a fight between two blackbucks. It is placed right in the middle of the hostel zone, thus making it close to a large number of hostels and facilities. All in all, the best place to be in, if you are in IITM.
