Set in the South Eastern end of the lush IIT Madras campus, Mandakini is a world of its own. Enter and you are taken into the best hostel garden in this part of the world, where flowers are in full bloom year in and year out. Just outside the entrance you will be sure to find a glimpse of a pack of majestic Cheetal(spotted deer) foraging for their daily 'grass'.

Built in 1967, Mandak has helped more than 3000 students on their path from being a fresh entrant to a fully qualified engineer in various disciplines. We stand on the shoulders of these giants who continue to play major roles in their organizations worldwide. And all them acknowledge, "Mandakini leaves its mark on you." It is this spirit, this invisible driving force that seeps into you the moment you enter this place we proudly call home, that helps us on our way.

The residents have always been as diverse in their origin as they are in their talents. From people who excel in taking make-up exams to those who claim to control weather conditions to those who see life though closed eyes, you'll never tire of the interesting stories you'll hear if you just keep hopping from room to room. And of course, we as the current residents have an immense responsibility to live up the standards set by our 'forefathers'. Surely, we shall do so. We are Mandakites after all.
