Narmada Hostel is one of the fourteen hostels located inside the IIT Madras campus. Compared to all the other hostels situated in the hostel zone, the location of Narmada is undoubtedly the best. You step out and there's Gurunath, the General Store and Himalaya, the giant of a mess where residents of eight hostels will soon start dining. Other facilities like the gym and the swimming pool are also very close to the hostel. Like all other hostels in IIT Madras, this hostel also shares its name with an Indian river. The name derives from the 1289 Kms long Narmada river that rises on the summit of Amarkantak Hill in Madhya Pradesh state of India.
